2023 Sorenson Cabernet Sauvignon
98 Points, Decanater
Limit: 6 Up to Bottles
Crafted from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from our oldest vines in the historic Burgess vineyard, this wine is reminiscent of Napa Cabernet Sauvignon from the 1970s. It’s classic and pure, with the formidable concentration that comes from extremely low-yielding old vines.
“Sorenson Vineyard, formerly the Souverain property, is planted to low-yielding vines dating back to the 1980s and sits at roughly 300 metres just below the Howell Mountain AVA. Aged for 24 months in 30% new French oak, this south-facing site is farmed and vinified with the clear intention of crafting a pure, precise mountain wine that retains varietal fidelity and transparently reflects its rugged, volcanic terroir, marked by boulder-strewn, mineral-rich soils. The result is a Cabernet defined by dark fruit and structured tannins that carry through a long, stony mineral finish, both beautiful and refined. Never overripe, it balances floral lift with dark fruit depth, its freshness underscored by a crunchy, vibrant fruit expression.” – Jonathan Cristaldi, Decanter
2013 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Limit: Up to 6 Bottles
2013 was debatably the best vintage on record for the 2010 decade. The 2013’s are wines of intense concentration and density that are actively opening up and beginning to show their best face. The aromas and flavors of confectionary blue fruit and desiccated black fruit evoke the essence of a drought vintage. Complex nuances such as toasted clove, dried rosemary, baked clay and a distinctive eucalyptus lift, bring balance to an otherwise hedonistic and powerful vintage.
