The 2006 Merlot, dubbed the "Cab-lover's Merlot", parallels Burgess' long history of award winning merlots, but with an even more chocolaty finish. The most common flavor characteristics of merlot, namely blueberries and black cherries, join the slightly darker side here with a hint of mint and a superbly balanced acid structure. Enjoy the 2006 Merlot with Blue Cheese Burgers, Herb Roasted Chicken, and Cioppino this summer.

The 2006 is 100% Merlot from our estate vineyard just south of Yountville more commonly referred to as the Oak Knoll District. This region of Napa Valley is ideal for bringing Merlot to full maturity, with vines that are oriented north to south so that they capture both morning and afternoon sun, thus producing a full-bodied, rich, complex wine with a long lasting finish.

The grapes are rotary fermented to extract the finest flavors and aromas while maintaining a balanced tannin structure. Aged in 100% French oak barrels.
