Tips for opening a 10+ year old bottle of wine:

  1. Using a two pronged extractor, a.k.a. the butlers friend, wine opener, is usually the best bet for premium length corks, used in all Burgess Cabernets.
  2. If you choose to use a classic cork screw, make sure the auger punctures the bottom of the cork.
  3. Also if you choose to use a classic cork screw, make sure the auger is longer than the cork

Library Releases...

BURGESS CELLARS  LIBRARY RELEASE  CABERNET SAUVIGNON

BROWSE Selection

Burgess Cellars started the Library program with the vintage of 1980.  At that time, Tom Burgess realized that many of his Napa Valley neighbors were rapidly depleting their inventory to satisfy current consumer demand.  Tom decided to cellar approximately 10% of his finest Cabernet Sauvignon (ranging from 500-1,000 cases) and cellar aged it under ideal conditions and care at the winery.  Each vintage ages ten or more years before being re-released as a Library wine.  As he predicted, older Napa Valley vintage wines have become rare and expensive commodities.

Burgess Cellars Library Release Vintage Cabernet Sauvignons have received wide acclaim, and each release is eagerly awaited by restaurants, wine shops and consumers. This additional aging has given the wine a wonderful bottle bouquet. The complex flavors show the depth of character that only a fine Cabernet will exhibit with proper cellaring.

This program offers the consumer, experienced and novice, a unique opportunity to enjoy wine which has been cellared and aged in an ideal aging environment.
